Vehicle glass is our main type of waste. We aim to recycle as much damaged vehicle glass as possible.
In implementing our mission, we care about the environment around us. It is important for us that business decisions are sustainable. In this way, we contribute to positive changes in society and the environment, while strengthening the company’s reputation. We are proud that we can repair car windshields instead of replacing them. This solution is not only cost- and time-efficient, but also sustainable. When repairing, we protect the environment, because CO₂ emissions are several times lower compared to replacing. We invest so that after replacing the glass, it is recycled.
Social responsibility is also an important part of sustainability. This includes not only ensuring the well-being of employees – fair wages, occupational safety standards and improving the working environment, but also commitments to the community.
We contribute to a more sustainable environment in various ways.
Following our “repair first” strategy, we repair glass damages that are up to 2.5 cm in diameter, at least 6 cm from the edge of the glass and located outside the driver’s field of vision. We replace damaged glass with new ones only when the glass is cracked and repair is no longer possible. We educate the public about the possibility of glass repair and we are already seeing results, as the number of car windows repaired is increasing every year.
In 2024, the vehicle glass replacement activities of Carglass® generated about 288 tons of glass waste in Lithuania. This waste did not end up in landfills, it was sent for recycling to our waste management partner, after which it was used as raw material for the production of other products. In Lithuania, Carglass® sends 99% of damaged glass and 100% of windshield waste for recycling. 1% of side and rear tempered glass waste goes into mixed waste. Tempered glass breaks into small pieces when broken. The pieces are collected together with other garbage. This creates mixed waste.
We also contribute to the preservation of environmental resources by digitalizing paper documents: deeds, invoices, guarantees, certificates, informational materials – everything is digitalized, we send customers links to documents and / or a digital document form.
