Repair or replace?

Based on the steps below, we will explain whether the windshield can be repaired or whether it needs to be replaced with a new one. In either case, we will offer you an individual solution that will be best for you.

Windshield replacement steps

1
Step 1

Step 1

A windshield damage can be repaired if the chip is not larger than a 2 euro coin, is at least 6cm from the edge of the glass, outside the driver's field of vision (approximately 30 cm of glass area at the center of the car's steering wheel). If the chip exceeds 2.5 cm in diameter, the glass will have to be replaced. All Carglass® craftsmen work according to the Belron® Way of Fitting standard. In the first stage of windshield replacement, the received glass is prepared to fit your car, checked and placed on a specially designed GTS® glass table in the ergonomic glass replacement area, thoroughly cleaned, and 1-Tek® installation equipment is attached.
2
Step 2

Step 2

Precise preparation for the installation of new glass takes place even before the damaged windshield is dismantled, when all the necessary auxiliary installation equipment is attached. All Carglass® technicians use 1-Tek® equipment for this purpose. The use of this equipment allows you to safely and ergonomically glue the front or rear glass of a passenger car. This complex tool consists of two main parts, which are attached to the newly installed and side windows with the help of powerful suction cups. During the glass installation process, Multilifter® handles are additionally used, allowing you to ergonomically hold the glass and adjust its position.

Step 3

Step 3

Only after proper preparation for the replacement of new glass, the damaged glass is dismantled, when another patented tool, Ezi-Wire™2, is used to safely cut the windshield. The Ezi-Wire™2 tool was developed and created by our Belron® Technical department so that our tehnicians could dismantle the windshield of a car without using any sharp objects. It consists of two spools of fiber rope with a handle and suction cups, which are used to attach the tool to the glass. Using this tool allows you to safely and ergonomically cut not only the front, but also the rear glass of any car or truck.

Step 4

Step 4

When the glass and vehicle body are prepared and the equipment is attached, the next extremely important stage of windshield installation takes place - applying glue. In order to ensure the tightness of the installation, using a professional tool, a battery-powered gun, glue is carefully applied to the glass in the right places.
5
Step 5

Step 5

In the final stage of glass installation, the new windscreen with glue is brought very carefully, adjusting the position, to the vehicle body opening and finally installed. The new windshield is additionally reinforced with special adhesive tape until the glue is completely dry. After just 1 hour, your car will be fully ready for safe operation again.

Ezi-Wire® tool

To replace a car windshield, you first need to remove the damaged one. We use the Ezi-Wire® tool for this work. The most obvious advantage of this equipment is the ability to use a polymer thread to cut the glass. Some glass replacement workshops use metal wire for this purpose. However, this is not very effective, as there is a risk of damaging the interior, body paint, and metal, and when working with a polymer thread, there is absolutely no such risk. The polymer Ezi-Wire® thread only cuts glue.

Fast-Fit® Adhesives

We have chosen the highest quality Fast-Fit® adhesives for vehicle glass installation – they harden in just an hour. So the car can be operated just one hour after the glass replacement work.

In order to ensure that the price of Carglass® windshield replacement matches the quality, we do not use cheap adhesives in service centers. Cheaper adhesives have a longer setting time. Carglass® windshield replacement work usually takes about 3 hours. We provide a guarantee for all work performed.
