How much does it cost to replace a windshield?

Car windshields are the most commonly damaged parts. Over 95% of all Carglass® work involves windshield replacement, with 30% being windshield repairs.

If the damage is a chip up to 2.5 cm in diameter, it is usually possible to repair the windshield. However, if the damage exceeds the size of a 2-euro coin, is within the driver’s line of sight, or is very close to the edge of the windshield (up to 6 cm), it cannot be repaired. In such cases, the windshield must be replaced.

At all Carglass® service centers, we only use certified glass that meets the original equipment manufacturers’ (OEM) quality standards. The windshield replacement at Carglass® takes from 1.5 to 2 hours. We use the highest quality “Fast-Fit®” adhesives for windshield installation, which harden within 30 minutes. This means the vehicle can be driven just half an hour after the windshield has been replaced.

Replacing windshields on larger vehicles (buses, trucks, motorhomes, etc.) takes between 2 to 4 hours.

The cost of windshield replacement depends on the type of work, the complexity of the replacement process, the car brand, model, glass configuration, number of technicians, and work duration. More and more often, we replace windshields on vehicles with integrated ADAS systems. In such cases, after the replacement, the ADAS camera calibration is necessary. We provide calibration services for all car brands at all Carglass® service centers. You can find the prices for our services in our price list (note that the cost of glass and accessories is not included in the labor price).

If you have KASKO or car glass insurance, make sure to use it. We will take care of all the insurance formalities for you. In the case of a chip repair, insurance companies usually cover the repair costs, while for windshield replacement, a deductible (franchise) may apply. Each insurance policy is individual, so the conditions for car glass protection may vary.
