We care about the environment and the fate of people living in poverty.
SOBC (Spirit of Belron Challenge) is an action designed to support African children, in which anyone can participate by swimming, running, cycling, walking, using a wheelchair – wherever they are in the world. The most important thing is to register your activity in a special app, because for every kilometer covered, Belron® donates 1 EUR. In addition, everyone can contribute something from their own funds. The sponsorship is carried out with the help of Belron®’s long-term charity partner Afrika Tikkun.
Afrika Tikkun takes care of education, healthcare and provides comprehensive social services, as well as primary health care, nutrition and family support services. It changes the lives of tens of thousands of children and young people in the poorest areas of South Africa.
Why does Belron® support South Africa?
- 57% of the population lives in poverty.
- More than a third of young people (15-35 years old) are unemployed.
- Most public schools do not have computers or libraries.
- Belron® has a long-standing relationship with South Africa. The original business, the glass company Jacobs & Dander, began operations in Cape Town in 1897.
